Dementia and Neurodegenerative Disease Network (DeNDRoN), Research and Development
Hours: 37.5 per week – fixed term contract until 2011
Band 5/6 £20,710 to £33,436 pro rata (depending on experience)

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Nurse/Practitioner to join the research team at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to be based at the hospital Clinical Research and Trials Unit.

Working primarily as a member of the Neurology and Medicine for the Elderly teams, you will support NIHR clinical research studies in Parkinson’s, Huntington’s and Motor Neurone Disease as well as the Dementias. This will involve the recruitment, education and monitoring of study patients/carers, the accurate collection and documentation of data and the collection of tissues/samples.

You will work closely with other neurology research nurses and practitioners in the team and staff of the East Anglia Dementias and Neurodegenerative Diseases Research Network (DeNDRoN).

You will collaborate with the Dementias research team of the Norfolk and Waveney Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust as some studies overlap between the Trusts.

Clinical and/or research experience in neurodegenerative diseases is essential as is the ability to work confidently and autonomously. You will be required to take blood samples (training in phlebotomy will be available).

Requirements:
• Graduate or equivalent level NHS qualification in a relevant disciple, with experience of research in a healthcare setting
• Clinical and/or research experience in neurodegenerative diseases is essential
• Ability to work confidently and autonomously is essential
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Applicants with the relevant knowledge, skills and experience may be considered for the higher Band

The work will require some independent travel throughout East Anglia and occasionally further a field, therefore access to a car and full driving licence are a requirement of the post.
